Rangley Servers Retired · March 2026

The app that started it all.

A location-based social meetup app for iOS. Designed, built, shipped, and supported solo. The servers are off now, but everything I'm building today started here.

Rangley App Interface

The main feed. Nearby meets, in real time.

The Story

From a side project to a launched product.

I built Rangley because group chats never turned into plans. People wanted to do things (coffee, tennis, a casual run), but the gap between "I'd be down" and "I'm out the door" was where everything died.

So I shipped an app that closed it. One tap to create, one tap to join, no swiping. I built every layer myself: SwiftUI on the front, Swift Vapor on the back, AWS in the middle. ECS, RDS, CloudWatch, and the kind of on-call instincts you only earn at 2 a.m.

In March 2026, I retired the servers. Rangley is no longer available to download. But the work it produced (the proof I can ship a real product end-to-end) is what led directly to what I'm building now: Dealifier, a React Native app launching in Charlotte.

How Rangley Worked

See What Was Happening

Open the app and instantly see nearby activities: coffee, tennis, group runs, or just hanging out. Everything was location-based and happening right now.

My Meets View

Rangley is offline. The lessons aren't.

If you're hiring an engineer who has actually shipped a product to real users (App Store review, on-call rotations, infrastructure bills, the whole thing), let's talk.
